The World Bank has agreed financing of UGX50 billion ($13.6 million) for a drinking water project in Uganda's Busai district.

The Busia District Water Supply and Sanitation Project will see several water infrastructures built in the region, with the aim of improving access to water and helping to limit deaths from water-borne diseases.

Busia District will have a water intake from Lake Victoria, with a raw water pipeline and a drinking water treatment plant to be built in Majanji sub-county. It is also planned to construct an additional elevated storage reservoir with a capacity of 1,720 m³ in Dabani.
