Privately-owned Polish utility Polenergia has raised a PLN107 million ($27.8 million) loan from the EBRD and commercial lenders mBank and ING Bank Slaski for its 38MW Szymankowo merchant wind project in Poland. Construction is underway and start of operations is scheduled for 2021. Siemens Gamesa is supplying 3.4MW turbines for the scheme.

Polenergia says it is not excluding entering the subsidy-free project in next month's RES auction to secure a 15-year government contract, if it enables the sponsor to maximise future profits.
