Google drops acquisition of Vestas' interest in Kenyan wind farm
Google has dropped plans to buy Vestas Wind Systems' 12.5% stake in the 310MW Lake Turkana Wind Power plant in Kenya. The $696MW project was initially scheduled for completion in 2017 but has experienced ongoing delays with the connection of the 428km transmission line to the grid. The project consortium is made up of co-developers KP&P Africa BV and Aldwych Intl, and includes Investment Fund for Developing Countries, Vestas Eastern Africa Ltd, Finnish Fund for Industrial Cooperation Ltd, KLP Norfund Investments AS and Sandpiper.
