ADB partners with banks on $300m lake and riverrehabilitation project in China

Region:
Asia-Pacific

The Asian Development Bank has signed a $300 million B-loan facility with China Water Environment Group to help restore water-ecosystems and build resilience to water-related disasters in the country.

The syndicated facility will help to spread CWE’s expertise to more cities from projects financed by a direct loan by ADB of $150 million in 2017 to improve river and lake water quality in western China.

ADB also provided $260,000 in technical assistance from an ADB-administered Water Financing Partnership Facility to enhance wastewater treatment standards and sludge management, as well as improve energy efficiency during wastewater treatment.
