Uzbekistan launches RFQs for solar PV tender
Uzbekistan has launched RFQs for a solar project in the central Asian country, with the deadline for submissions on 25 August (2020).
This is the first project in a 1GW solar PV tender programme on which ADB is advising. After RFQs, the Uzbek government will invite certain parties to the request for proposals round. That is targeted for September.
The prospective project sponsor is to build a solar plant on a site in Sherabad district in Surkhandarya region with at least 200MWac capacity, plus a new 220/110/10kV substation and a 52km transmission line to the existing Surkhan substation.
The solar generation component would be delivered under a DBFOOM contract, while the substation and transmission line would be under design, build, finance contracts. The release of the RFQ follows the call for expressions of interest earlier in 2020. All respondents are invited to submit RFQs.
However, the ministry is looking to roughly have the number invited to the RFP stage, down to 20-25. On 22 February, 54 consortia and individual bidders submitted EOIs.
