The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission is investigating a MYR300 million ($72.1 million) loan from Malaysia's Sabah Development Bank to the country's AirAsia group.

The commission said it was examining whether there "had been any violation". The investigation will look at how the funds were disbursed quickly within a few days of the installation of the new state government.

AirAsia said the loan was to fund specific development projects, including MYR170 million to establish and operate a digital food supply chain and cold chain facilities in the state of Sabah.
