Doosan to build hydropower plant in Nepal

South Korea's Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction is to take part in the Upper Trishuli-1 Hydropower Project, in Nepal, by investing KRW400 billion ($353.4 million).

Doosan will be in charge of generator and turbine supply and power plant construction on the project, about 70km to the north of Kathmandu. The plant, which will take five years to be built, will have a capacity of 216MW. 

Korea South-East Power, the Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corp, and the International Finance Corporation are currently working on the project. 

Doosan is also preparing a similar project with Korea South-East Power in Pakistan. The project is to build a 215MW hydroelectric power plant 375km to the north of Islamabad. Groundbreaking is scheduled for late 2022.
