Agence Francaise de Developpement (AFD) has signed a MAD1.1 billion ($119.8 million) loan deal with Casa Transport en Site Amenage for the construction of two new lines of the Casablanca tramway in Morocco.

The 14km long T3 line - Boulevard Abdelkader Essahroui to Gare Casa Port via the city centre - will have 20 stations and five multimodal transfer points.

The T4 line - Boulevard Okba Ibnou Nafiaa to Arab League Park via Boulevard Mohamed VI - will cover 12.5km with 19 stations and four transfer points. The two lines will be built simultaneously and will require a total investment of MAD7 billion for a commissioning scheduled in 2024. The project also aims to promote adapted access for people with reduced mobility but also safer access for women.

A technical assistance grant from AFD of MAD5.5 million will supplement the loan.
