CABEI the first MDB to issue COVID-19 vaccine bond

The Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI) says it has become the first multilateral development bank to issue a COVID19 vaccine bond in the Asian Market. The bond issuance was executed as a private placement, with a five-year tenor with and a total amount of $50 million. 

The lender also says it is also the first financial institution to issue a bond with directed best efforts towards the acquisition of vaccines for the Central American population
