EIB finances water and wastewater projects in Lithuania

The European Investment Bank has agreed a loan facility of up to €50 million with Vilniaus Vandenys to improve water infrastructure in and around Lithuania’s capital. 

The 20-year-old loan to the water authority - of which a first €20 million tranche has been signed - will be used to renew two wastewater treatment plants in Vilnius and in Švenčionys, a well as refurbish and improve the water- and wastewater networks in and around Vilnius. Vilniaus Vandenys will also use the loan for the implementation of new IT solutions to improve water management.
