FMO’s involvement in Barro Blanco project ends as loan is repaid

Dutch development bank FMO says its involvement Barro Blanco hydropower project in Panama has come to an end as borrower and operator Genisa has repaid its loan in full. 

Now operating, the plant - located on the Tabasara River in the district of Tolé - generates 28MW of clean energy to Panama, enough to supply 50,000 households and avoid the imports of 180,000 barrels of oil.
