Mobilisation: A reality check

The billions to trillions narrative which the development finance network has based its private capital mobilisation aspirations on since 2015 is on shaky ground because, as ODI’s latest research proves, institutional investors do not actually have that much cash held in emerging markets. Replicable and scalable private capital mobilisation for emerging markets needs to be thought of, and pursued, on more realistic lines – and could be significantly bolstered by more MDB support.
