Sasol and Electricidade de Mocambique have closed a DFI-backed refinancing for the 175MW Central Termica Ressano Garcia (CTRG) gas-to-power project in Mozambique which was inaugurated in 2014.

The first permanent large scale gas-to-power plant in the country, the $270 million project was originally financed by a Sasol bridging facility in 2014. The refinancing comprises $189 million of project debt provided by IFC, FMO, Proparco and Absa. The Absa debt comes with political risk cover from Miga.
