World Bank and AIIB finance Pakistan safe water supply project
The World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) are to provide $160 million each to finance a safe water supply project in Karachi. The project will improve the operational capacity of Karachi Water Supply Board to deliver a safe and reliable service in the capital of Sindh.
The Sindh government will provide $80 million for the project, which will also increase the capacity of the sewage system in Karachi by constructing infrastructure to have the capacity of treating 180 million gallons of wastewater per day. The infrastructure will be constructed at Malir river basin.
