Equinor plans floating wind to power North Sea oil platforms
Equinor is evaluating a project to supply its North Sea oil and gas platforms with power from a floating offshore wind farm. The Hywind Tampen project will develop a 88MW farm to meet about 35% of the five platforms making up the Snorre and Gullfaks fields in the northern North Sea.
Norway's Nox fund will provide up to 566 million NOK ($68 million) in investment support for the project and an application has been made to the Norwegian state's innovation and technology development supporter Enova.
