EC approves €1.39bn financing for new Bucharest metro line
The European Commission has approved €1.39 billion in financing for a project to build a 14.2km line that will link Bucharest with the Henri Coanda International Airport in Otopeni.
Bucharest and Brussels are negotiating the maximum amount of non-reimbursable funds to be allocated through the Operational Program Infrastructure for the project.
The final amount also depends on the discussions between the Romanian authorities, the European Commission and the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, which will co-finance the project. The project will receive co-funding from the state budget.
