$300m ADB loan will finance new section Georgia's East–West Highway

The Asian Development Bank has approved a $300 million loan to finance the construction of a four-lane, 12km road on the East West Highway between Khevi and Ubisa in Georgia. The total cost of the project is $429.5 million, with the government of Georgia contributing $129.5 million. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2024.

The road currently carries about 60% of Georgia's foreign trade despite representing only about 2% of the country's entire road network length.
