Japan to nominate Masatsugu Asakawa as next ADB head

Region:
Asia-Pacific

Japan is expected to nominate Masatsugu Asakawa as its candidate to become the next Asian Development Bank leader. The position of president of the ADB has always been held by Japan which, along with the US, is the bank's biggest stakeholder; although China could also nominate a candidate this year. If the Asakawa nomination is successful he will succeed incumbent Takehiko Nakao, who has served in the role since 2013.
