Guinea joins Lusophone Compact
Equatorial Guinea has joined the Lusophone Compact, a joint initiative by the AfDB and government of Portugal to accelerate private sector development in Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa: Angola, Cabo Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique and Sao Tome and Príncipe are the other members.
Equatorial Guinea has listed potential private sector and PPP investment projects, which will be reviewed for support along with an indicative list of technical assistance projects to accelerate private sector and PPP growth.
The Lusophone Compact provides risk mitigation, investment products and technical assistance to accelerate private sector development in Lusophone African countries. The Portuguese government has allocated €400 million in guarantees and other risk sharing mechanisms in the 2019 national budget to support the scheme.
