Equinor and its Snorre and Gullfaks partners have made their final investment decision for the Hywind Tampen offshore wind farm located 140km off the coast of Norway. Two updated plans for development and operation will be submitted to Norwegian authorities. Investments in the project will total almost NOK5 billion ($550 million) with up to NOK2.3 billion committed by Norway, through Enova, and a further NOK566 million made available through Nox Fund. The 88MW wind farm will consist of 11 wind turbines and is developed by Equinor. Consent to the extending of the Gullfaks field to 2036 and the Snorre field to 2040 has been essential to realising the Hywind Tampen project.

The Gullfaks licence is owned by Equinor Energy (51%); Petoro (30%); and OMV (Norge) (19%). The Snorre licence is operated by Equinor Energy (33.3%); Petoro (30%); ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway (17.5%); Idemitsu Petroleum Norge (9.6%); DEA Norge (8.6%); and Var Energi (1.1%).
