The €46.8 million ($51 million) Tidal Stream Industry Energiser Project (TIGER) has secured €28 million from the European Regional Development Fund through its Interreg France (Channel) England Programme. SIMEC Atlantis Energy's Normandie Hydroliennes joint venture with French regional investment fund Normandie Participations and local manufacturer Efinor will be deploying up to 8MW of new tidal capacity at sites in and around the Channel region. The project will serve as a demonstrator for the tidal turbine technology and sell output to Channel Island utility Alderney Electricity Limited. Atlantis is planning the demonstration array as a precursor to larger scale arrays in both French and Alderney’s territorial waters.
