KfW IPEX, Finnvera, FEC to finance El Salvador LNG-to-power project

KfW IPEX-Bank, Finnish Export Credit and Finnvera are to provide $142 million of debt to part finance the 378MW $877 million Energia del Pacifico LNG-to-power project in El Salvador.

The project framework consists of the construction of a natural gas-fired baseload power plant, including 19 Wartsila “FlexiCycle” 18V50SG natural gas combustion reciprocating-engines and one 30MW common steam turbine generator. It also includes construction of sub-sea and marine pipeline infrastructure to connect to an offshore Floating Storage and Regasification Unit for supplying LNG, an onsite substation, and a 44km transmission line connecting to a substation at Ahuachapan on the border with Guatemala.
