Sterling and Wilson, SNS and Vergnet have been given the go-ahead to build a 19MW hybrid solar power plant in Agadez, Niger. The project includes the rehabilitation of the local electricity network. The consortium is also expected to provide project management assistance and institutional support to accompany and train engineers and technicians from Nigelec in photovoltaic technologies to enable them to operate large-scale solar power plants in the short term.

French Development Agency (AFD) is providing €16 million of the project’s funding, which will be matched by €16 million from the EU.
