EIB: €150m loan will finance schools and sports infrastructure project in Hungary

Region:
Europe

The European Investment Bank has signed a €150 million loan deal to finance the construction and rehabilitation of eight schools, 16 classroom extensions, and 20 new sport halls in schools in Hungary.

The funds will also be used to build 26 swimming pools and 17 larger gymnasiums in public schools across the country. The financing will allow pupils currently schooled in mobile containers to move in to new, modern school buildings, reducing overcrowding.

The EIB loan will also help public schools adapt effectively to local demographic changes, reduce energy consumption and contribute towards a sustainable environment in Hungary and the European Union.
