Interest submitted for €1.2bn Slovenian railway project

Slovenia’s state-owned project company 2TDK has received a total of 29 submissions from bidding groups seeking to prequalify for the development of the Divaca-Koper second track project. The 27km second track will run mainly through eight tunnels and will also require the construction of  two viaducts, two bridges and one gallery. The €1.2 billion ($1.33 billion) project has secured €250 million of funding from EIB and another €109 million through the EU's Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). Completiion is expected in 2025 with commercial operation starting the following year.

The tender is divided into two lots. The first section between Divaca and Crni Kal attracted interest from China State Contruction Engineering Corp; Kolektor CPG/Yapi Merkezi Insaat/Ozaltin Insaat; Cengiz Insaat; China Civil Engineering Construction Corp; China Communications Construction Company;IC Ictas Insaat/Euro-Asfalt;Gorenjska gradbena druzba/Metrostav/CGP; Power Construction Corporation; Impresa Pizzarotti/Acciona Construccion/Makro 5 Gradnje; YDA Insaat/Unitek Insaat; China Railway No. 9 Group Co; Swietelsky Tunnelbau; Strabag/Ed. Zublin/Gulermak; China Gezhouba Group/Ginex International; and Marti GmbH/Marti Tunnel/TuCon. All the bidders except the Marti consortium also expressed interest in the second lot from Crni Kal to Koper.
