Trina Solar closes on Llanos 1 solar debt

Trina Solar Energy has reached financial close on the COP45 billion ($12.6 million) financing backing the 27MW Bosques de los Llanos 1 solar project. FDN and commercial lender Banco Davivienda each [provided half of the debt. According to FDN the deal is the first financing of a renewable energy project in Colombia on a non-corporate basis.

The scheme is backed by a power purchase agreement with Vatia. The project has an interconnection contract with Electrificadora del Meta (EMSA) to connect to the 34.5kV Altillanura substation. Commercial operation will start in May 2020.
