AIIB commits $385m to improve water access in Uzbekistan

The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved a $385 million loan to provide access to safely managed water and sanitation services and strengthen the operational performance of water utility in Uzbekistan’s Bukhara Region. 

The Bukhara Region Water Supply and Sewerage Project will support priority investments in water supply infrastructure and sewage infrastructure, helping to reduce water-related diseases, lower coping costs - expenses and time savings - increasing operational efficiency and enhancing water service quality and quantity.

Uzbekistan has committed to increasing regional access to water supply - currently at 54% - and sewage services - currently at 34% - to 100%.
