Powertis nears close on Brazilian solar project financings
Spain’s Powertis, a subsidiary of solar tracker manufacturer Soltec Power Holdings, is expected to sign a R$191 million ($37.7 million) loan with BNDES to finance its Pedranopolis solar facility in Brazil early in 2021.
The project, located in the state of Sao Paulo and comprising three 30MW plants, will be financed via a 24-year loan, the longest BNDES has ever provided for a solar facility. It is also the first project to have received financing under the PLD scheme, which is designed to finance long-term projects in the country’s free market.
The project marks the second financing BNDES has approved for Powertis in the past two months. In October, the DFI agreed to provide a R$194 million loan for two solar projects in Minas Gerais totaling 112.5MW (DC), which is also expected to close in H1 next year.
