Albania's government has annouced plans to launch the first tender for the construction of utility-scale on-shore wind power plants.

The tender, expected to be launched early in 2021, will be the first in a planned series of investments in wind energy projects and was supported by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development with additional financial grant support of €650,000 provided by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs.

Prospective bidders can propose projects with a minimum capacity of 30MW and a maximum capacity of 75MW. Through this tender process, the ministry will select projects totalling 150MW that will receive support measures.
