Alstom has been selected as preferred bidder for a contract to supply around 1000 driverless metro cars for the Grand Paris Express metro network. The decision was approved by the tendering committee of Societe du Grand Paris (SGP) and the SGP-Ile-de-France Mobility. The overall project is being funded via long-term loans – €2 billion of 40-year debt from the EIB alone – backed by annual allocations of tax revenue (approximately €550 million per year).
