Tlou Energy is progressing negotiations with Botswana Development Corporation (BDC) to finance its Lesedi coal-bed methane (CBM) project in Botswana. Tlou is looking for BDC to provide up to $30 million to develop the first 10MWs of the scheme. The developer is also exploring other financing sources as a contingency, with expressions of interest received from third parties for a hybrid financing. Tlou is also considering low carbon power bonds to fund combined gas and solar generation, as it has environmental approvals for up to 20MW of gas and up to 20MW of solar in Botswana.
