EBRD appoints Philip ter Woort as Director for eastern Mediterranean

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development has appointed Philip ter Woort Director for its eastern Mediterranean region, leading its operations in Jordan, Lebanon and the West Bank and Gaza.

He will start his new position on 1 July 2020 and will be based in Jordan where he follows Heike Harmgart, who was appointed EBRD Managing Director for the southern and eastern Mediterranean region in 2019.  

Ter Woort joined the EBRD in 2009 as Head of Office for Mongolia, based in Ulaanbaatar. In 2013, he was appointed the bank’s first Director for Egypt and established its operations in the country. After four years he moved to London as Director of Business Development.

Before he joined the EBRD, ter Woort served in senior roles at Dutch banks and multinational companies in the Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland and Russia.
